Women's Basketball to host Second Annual "Pink Out" for Breast Cancer Awareness

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's basketball team will come together with Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) for the Second Annual "Pink Out" Feb. 8 against Missouri State for breast cancer awareness. All tickets are $2 with $1 going to the SIH Women with Hope support group. Pink shirts will be given out courtesy of SIH to the first 1,000 fans to arrive. All Breast Cancer Survivors get in free can attend a pre-game reception in the upper concourse of the Arena and will get a "pink-out" shirt and can be recognized at half time. The Salukis will wear Pink Uniforms provided by Rawlings. January 18 Saluki Athletics handed out 800 Pink Out Piggy Banks, sponsored by First Southern Bank. Anyone who brings back a piggy bank filled will get in free and gets to keep the bank. All donations from the piggy bank will be collected via a Wish You Well stationed in the front lobby. Kids can also enjoy Pink Out face painting and receive pink balloons in the lobby prior to tip-off. For more information on the "Pink Out" call (618) 453-5153. Visions Hair Studio on South University Avenue in Carbondale is starting an annual fundraiser in conjunction with the "Pink Out" called Color Me Pink. They have offered members of fraternities and other who are interested to color their hair pink for the price of $50. There will be a prize for the single person that raises the most money and a barbecue for the fraternity/sorority that puts up the most money. Each volunteer will receive a coupon for a complimentary hair cut and 90 percent of the proceeds will go to a local breast cancer charity through SIH.
