Was projected to be one of SIU's top two pitchers, but dropped out of the starting rotation after re-aggravating an elbow injury which was suffered in 2002...appeared in 12 games, while making 11 starts...scattered 50 hits, allowed 29 runs and issued 18 walks in 47.1 innings...struck out 20 batters, including a season-high five against Blackburn (3/1)...compiled a 2-5 record and held a 5.13 ERA...made first appearance on the hill in over a month at Wichita State (5/11)...appearance against the Shockers marked his only one in relief all season.
2002
Named MVC Pitcher of the Week (2/18)...went 4-1 with a third-best 3.65 ERA...appeared in nine games, while starting six...in 37.0 innings, was touched for 30 hits and 15 earned runs...struck out a fourth-best 31 batters...also picked up one save...held opponents to a .264 batting average...pitched a complete game with four strikeouts in a 10-3 win over Creighton (3/15)...struck out a career-high 11 batters in first start of the season at Louisiana-Monroe (2/16)...averaged 6.3 strikeouts in first four appearances of the season.
2001
Struck out 35 batters and allowed just 18 walks in 59.2 innings of work...appeared in 22 games, including 16 in relief...averaged 5.3 Ks per nine innings...pitched 11.2 consecutive scoreless innings...posted a 5.43 ERA.

Played at Auburn High School under coach Tim Kuykendall...led his conference with 33 strikeouts in 32.0 innings...hit .385 which also led the team...earned honorable mention all-conference honors both on the mound and in the outfield as a junior and senior...won the AHS Booster Club Award...served as captain of the water polo team, where he was selected second-team all-state...was also named the team's Most Inspirational Player...was presented with the "Kids Day Salute" Citizen Leadership Award, as an active member of the community.
