Greg Andrews is in his third year working with the outfielders, assisting with hitting and handling first base coaching duties for the Dawgs.

A native of Peoria, Ill., Andrews started at second base for four years at SIU prior to signing with the Chicago Cubs.

Andrews won the Abe Martin Award, earned second-team all-MVC honors and was named to the Valley's all-tournament team twice throughout his Saluki career.

This past year, Andrews played for the Frontier League's Gateway Grizzlies, where he hit .250 with 18 runs scored, four doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 26 RBI in 125 at-bats. He also homered in his first official at-bat of the season.

Andrews currently ranks among SIU career leaders in games played, at-bats, doubles, home runs and total bases.

He recently completed a master's degree in Kinesiology/Sports Management at SIU.
