NEW ORLEANS - The Southern Illinois women's track and field team was named a 2007 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Salukis ranked 33rd in the nation with a 3.25 cumulative team grade point average.

After winning both the women's NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Arizona State University Sun Devils were named the 2007 USTFCCCA Division I Women's All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team of the Year. The Sun Devils hold a 3.130 grade-point average.

The University of Arkansas Little Rock had the highest overall GPA (3.610), while Quinnipiac University (3.518) and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga (3.460) rounded out the top three All-Academic teams.

In all, there were 97 Division I Women's programs recognized as 2007 All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The Big Ten Conference led all conferences with a total of eight All-Academic teams, while the Missouri Valley Conference had five. Bradley led the MVC ranked fourth in the nation with a 3.44 team GPA.

The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year award is based on a combination of athletic and academic achievements. The top honor goes to the team that has the best finish at the Division I Indoor and/or Outdoor National Championships and that also holding the highest cumulative GPA.

To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 GPA.
