CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Athletics has hired Lindsey McDonnell as the NCAA Compliance Coordinator for Saluki Athletics.

"I am excited to be apart of the Saluki Athletics family," said McDonnell. "SIU clearly has a commitment to winning with integrity and I hope my previous experience as a student-athlete, coach and administrator will enhance our compliance efforts."

At SIU, McDonnell will primarily be responsible for handling issues related to student-athlete financial aid. She will also assist SIU's Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance Christian Spears with compliance issues.

"Lindsey is a conscientious, detail-oriented person, who excelled as a student-athlete at Penn State and understands the importance of NCAA rules compliance," said Spears. "I am confident she will serve our coaches, staff and the university community with enthusiasm as we maintain our commitment to institutional integrity and compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations."

McDonnell comes to SIU from Lynchburg College in Virginia where she earned her master's degree in Educational Leadership. While at Lynchburg, McDonnell worked as a Graduate Assistant to the Athletics Director in the compliance office. McDonnell also served as an Assistant Coach for the Lynchburg track and field team during her time at the University.

Prior to attending Lynchburg, McDonnell was a four-year varsity pole vaulter at Pennsylvania State University. McDonnell earned her bachelor's degree in Marketing from Penn State in 2004.

McDonnell began her position at SIU on Oct. 15.
